There once was a little old owl
Who was a respectable fowl.
Said she to her friend,
A respectable moorhen,
“Don’t always go ‘round with a scowl!”
There once was a small maple tree
Who was proud of her bright greenery.
But when autumn came,
Then blushing in shame,
She turned scarlet red in a hurry!
There once was a cute little kit
Who came very close to a fit
When she found out
Clear beyond a doubt
That all kits do not like her one bit.

You offer chocolate? What a sin!
They rot my teeth and blotch my skin,
And put on weight that splits my seams.
Thanks, I’ll have two buttercreams
Autumn
Falling Leaves
Golden, Brown, White
Gentle Snow
Winter
Fall
Fall is
Yellow leaves
Shining against
A bright blue sky
Brown geese
Flying in a V
Across a crimson sunset
Gray clouds
Threatening to
Drop upon the lands
Orange pumpkins
Ready to be
Made into golden pies
Fall is many colors
Until
White snow softly falls…

Haikus
Clinging to a branch
Tossed to and fro by the wind –
A small trembling leaf.
To find a nice worm,
Cocking a pert little head
Listening robin.
Abandoned, it weeps
Waiting, crying sadly; for
The cat is lonely.
Cinquains
Flowers
Sweet, delicate,
Blooming, spreading, wilting,
Beautifully tinted

Iridescent purple
Sweeping, gliding, chirping
Their nutcracker song

Anxious hikers
Waiting and wondering
Has Indian Summer come?
Autumn.
Costumes
Eager children
Giggling and whispering
Will it be Trick or Treat?
Halloween.

A long time ago I
wondered what it must of
felt like seeing the
passenger pigeons soaring
above a gray dense cloud
of fluttering wings and how
they must have chattered
and scolded and chirped
before
they all got shot
down.

Beauty
Have you ever seen
anything
more ugly than
a cold, heartless, beautiful woman
engrossed and involved in
only her own fragile world.
Despising anybody who
works, toils, and sweats
to earn daily bread.
Have you ever seen
anything
more Beautiful than
a weary workman
saying hello to groups of children,
listening patiently to neighbor’s problems,
lending a helping hand to those that need it,
choosing the “just right” present for little Sue
on his way home from his work.
Have you ever seen
true beauty?
